Dresser With removable Changing table top

Project by Woody Haze posted 639 days ago 685 views 3 times favorited 10 comments Add to Favorites Watch

This dresser is for my son to be born in about a month. The dresser is made of maple plywood and solid maple. The drawer faces are ¾” maple. The legs are 1 ½” solid hard maple. The top is maple plywood with 2 ¼” wide maple wrapping the edge. The finish was color matched to the crib we already bought. I used water based dye, a coat of Minwax red oak stain, 7 coats of semi-gloss polyurethane. The top is divided to fit a changing pad. The drawers are ½” solid poplar with 1/ 4” maple plywood bottoms.

Your project looks great. Are those chrome handles? They really look good against the finish you chose. Good Job!

The handles are brushed nickle. I was lucky enoungh to find them at Home Depot for 1/2 the price of the Amerock ones that looked the same I had previously used.

This is a nice piece. Again the finish is gorgeous.

Thanks for the post.

Excellent finish job. The grain just pops on the maple. Very interesting sides on the dresser. Very handsome piece.

I’ve been thinking about making some furniture pieces and have been toying with the ‘parts’ list of a ‘simple’ dresser. My favorite piece about your dresser is the curves of the side/leg pieces. The changing table topper will also be a very practical addition. Congrats on the coming baby boy! Michael
