This was another commission project, Our sawmilling business had sold a local Doctor some real nice Curly Cherry and he had plans to build the table himself. Everyone knows how the best laid plans never work out. Well he got ill and the doctor informed that he has issues with his lungs and dusty environments were out! No more woodworking for him. He contacted me and asked if I could build the tables for him, they were to be Christmas presents for his granddaughters. He had copied a couple of pages from a book that had a “Harvest Table” plans but they weren’t complete, So I incorporated details from another plan i found on the internet. Seems to have worked out just fine.
This is the first drop leaf table I have built, Rule Joints are a learning experience! They don’t work exactly like you would expect. If you get ready to make one, suggest you do some googleing and reading. Other than that, a great build.
This is the finished product, 1 of 2. So now on to the other table.

Thats some beauty wood! That’ll age gracefully, nicely done and I bet the client’s very happy.

Really nice work, Kevin. I’ve never worked with large pieces of cherry.

Busy over this way, too.

Instant heirloom! It’s going to get even prettier as it ages.
