I made this box last week. During the build I made a lot of photo’s to be able to make a slide-show for you-tube.

Nicely done. The grid over the walnut burl adds an interesting element to the lid. The hinges work particularly well. They appear to be set into the base of the box. Nice integrated effect. Innovative lift. Really nice job.

Well executed wooden hinges really make a difference in my opinion.

Thank you for posting, your timing is perfect for me. I will try your technique of not cutting all the way through the lid.
question, did you veneer the underside of the lid as well?
