This was made for my grandaughter, just because I love her so much. I put a false bottom in it and of course her mother said thanks Dad for making her a weed box. I told my Daughter-in-law it was a hiding place for her love letters jeeze

A layer of maple over walnut then a round nose bit with the router, saw it in a wood magazine a couple years ago. Thanks

Of course my response to your daughter would have been much more sarcastic. such as “How do you know about weed?” I like the way you did the top it looks nice. What kind of corners did you do? I think I see a 45 degree corner, but the pictures are a little fuzzy.

Interesting top Mike. I like the false bottom concept. It gives a sense of privacy in a public displayment. The Mom should be more trusting and appreciate the gift for what it is.

Nice job, Mike. I like the top, too. And I’d say your daughter-in-law just let you in on some of HER past. <g>

I think I agree with you all. The corners are just 45 degree cuts on my Rigid miter saw. Thanks all. mike

Nice box and sentiment, Grandpa Mike.

Thanks for the chuckle, Dennis. Probably room in there for dessicated Velvetleaf, too.

Mike I think you really came up with a clever design on the box – I think the top is great. Your granddaughter will probably treasure that box for many years to come and will always remember you when she hides her love letters. I have 3 granddaughters, 9, 6 and 3. The 9 year old lives right across the street from me and her Dad and I have already decided that her first date will coincide with her 50th Birthday :-)).

Thanks all, I’m sure she’ll find something to hide in there. she’s 13, looks 18, acts 6, you know that puberty thing, God love em, My wife and I had a boy and a girl, and swear to God, that girl has raised more hell and been in more trouble than the boy ever was in. Yet I just love her to death. Oh yea, she can piss me off the most between the two, cause she’s a spittin image of me. GRRRRRR mike

Great box. That textured lid surely makes it unique. I do hope the “weed” comment was in jest.
