Hey, new here and been looking through projects for about a month now. I just finished one of my first projects the other day and thought It’d post it. Everything I’m making will be from ‘reclaimed’ wood. It’s free :) Well at least the stock. I’m selling them off for a few bucks to start acquiring toys.

36” Wide (both pieces)
18” High
15” Deep

Pine, this stuff from some parts crates from my old shop (STRYKER parts) that this past summer we were burning in our fire pit, glad we saved a bunch of it. Every piece was 7 1/4” or 5 1/2” wide as the crate was built. Cupped something nasty, and 3/4” thick. I have a drill, saw, pull saw, jack plane, 5” orbital sander, 16g finish nails and a few screws, oh and glue, clamps, squares, and a hammer :) Next step is a decent mitre saw.

This one’s a mix of Dark Chestnut and Red Mahogany stain from Minwax, and one coat of finish, mixture of BLO, Mineral Spirits, and Fast Drying Polyurethane. Bench top has a coat of paste wax on it. Not bad, slowly getting better. Main problem is perfect cuts with a hand saw, jointing by hand. And my jack plane needs a serious sharpening.

Hey, welcome to Lumberjocks. I think you did a great job with the tools and resources you had. I love reclaimed wood too. It just amazes me what they’ll make a pallet out of.

Eric, they look good; nice work and welcome to Lumberjocks.

Thanks for the welcomes. Putzing around this morning trying to decide what’s next. The wife really wants a potato and onion box, so I think I’ll start planning for that, her BD is Christmas eve, so it’s a little far out, but she wouldn’t be surprised anyway, there’s no place to hide it while I’m working on it, or afterwards. My ‘shop’ is a approx 7’x5’ shed attached to the house.
