This is another variation of some beautiful candle holders that Ellen had posted once. I made this one as a house warming gift for a very good friend of mine who just bought a new condominium. I only have the first coat of poly on it and it still needs to be rubbed down and re-coated at least one more time. I have to start packing for a trip tomorrow and probably won’t finish it until after Thanksgiving so I figured I would post it now. The body is Walnut and the legs and inlay are Maple.

Thanks for looking and Happy Thanksgiving.

Joe

I LOVE seeing variations on a theme… this is a sweet one!
I really love the inlay on top as well as the way you have attached the legs to show the entire body.

Thanks everyone. Yeah I kinda figured someone would want to know how the legs were attached :-)
I had originally planned on gluing but then I thought about the fact that the joint was going to be end grain to end grain and probably wouldtn’t work. I came up with drilling and screwing through the legs from the bottom into the body. I put pockets in the bottom of the legs to accommodate the screw heads and I filled the pockets with wood filler. It was a little tricky but in the end it came out very solid.
