This is my first attempt at some sort of decorative box. The sides are oak and the base and inside of lid are maple. Previously I’ve seen posts using splines in the corners and built a jig to attempt that on this project. Overall it turned out okay I think. In the future I think I will try to make the base and the splines stick out instead of staining everything the same color. I used English Chestnut stain with several coats of gloss Lacquer finish. It was a fun project where I challenged myself to try new methods and overall was happy with the result although I have a lot to learn from everyone still! I think I will give it away for a Christmas gift.
