This is a sword display comissioned by a friend at work. He and his wife met through online gaming and so this has some significance to them. It was a treat to make!

The wood is oak. The finish is 50/50 poly/mineral spirits. The edges are beveled. The swords are sharp.

The second picture shows a stand that will hold three colored orbs called ‘materia’.

And a Trap Door Spider found in the shop. Watch out almonds!

Beautiful! As a FF nerd myself, I have to say, that is incredible. the couple you made that for will be thrilled I have no doubt!
excellent work, and I love seeing nerd-ery and woodworking coming together in such brilliant fashion!
(p.s. the spider is pretty cool too ;) )

Cloud’s Buster Sword up there looks amazing. Wish my wife was as into Final Fantasy as I am. Yes, thats right, I knew the sword the second I saw it. I am a terrible nerd.

Gotta love FF. I have my kids playing them on my old PS2. Now they want me to make wooden replicas for them. I will probably make them some swords they can bang around with and then make some really nice wooden FF swords they can hang on their walls.

The Buster sword is pretty sweet, but c’mon, this thing has materia slots…
in this man’s opinion, the materia slots could be the highlight of the entire thing, I would love to see what they use to fill them :)

okay, how on earth did you do that…
that is marvelous…
i wish my kids would go back to that game…I’m just about to finish up a sad attempt at a gunstock. I’d like to think it is because they fantasize about providing food to their families one day, rather than becoming brainwashed, conditioned slaughtering minions of …some entity

Thanks folks.

Christine, I print out my patterns and trace them with graphite paper. Then it is router time :)
