I got this idea from delturcious. Thank you!
The great thing about this project is that it can be made out of scrap. I glued two pieces of scrap Russian Birch plywood together and then cut them into blocks. I planes the pieces before gluing them together so that it looked like one piece of wood. I am very happy with the result. The round ends are made out of the same material. I used oak dowels, and then several coats of regular polyurethane on the whole thing.
I had planned to use them as gifts over the coming years, but too many people on my wife’s side and my family side had babies that I will be giving them all this Christmas. Of course, saved one for my kids. Expecting the second one in March—-girl.

Congrats on the upcoming baby. I’m having twins in March….well my wife is. I love this project, and I will be making some soon, because my sister-in-law is having twins as well.
