I built this a couple years ago…Faced with an ever increasing swarm of kittah’s – Birds were constantly getting smoked on our bird feeder. The old one sat directly out the living room window, so while sitting relaxing, you would see a cat snatch a bird off the feeder – Wife likes the cats – I like the birds, so this is the compromise I came up with…

I went to a gutter shop and had them cut copper to wrap around a 4×4, then built the feeder holder and wrapped it up – fits like a glove! Admittedly, it’s a little gothic, but I think it kinda looks cool (and its great to see the cats sit and ponder endlessly!)

I can’t be the only one with a kittah / squirrel problem, so I thought I’d toss out my solution to the group.

this is like a piece of art in the yard.

and has it saved the birds?

( I read once where people attach a slinky around the post and when the squirrels try to climb it they go for a bungee cord ride)

Beautiful finish! happy to make something like this to foil the squirrels and raccoons in my neck of the woods.

I have a “squirrel proof” feeder with a baffle near the kitchen window. The ‘coons will just look at you for a sec, then go back to eating when you bang on the glass. Their twice as big as our cats!

At first glance, I thought (because it was sideways) that this was one of those “squirrel go round” feeders. My brother in law and Father in law have made a few… I have one built (and gathering dust. I “forgot about it” when it was time to go get the nuts and bolts to put the “ferris wheel” in action…

I’ll have to take a look around the shop to see if I can’t put it in action now.
