This is 3 dougfir 2×4s glued together; just wanted to practice. My daughter said she’d take it so I rubbed some BOL on it, won’t waste much time on finishing it. It’s about 2 hours labor total, including sanding. But it’s a start, hopefully the next one will be better.

I like it – very ‘organic’ feel. Nice Job

That is a pretty nice first box. Your daughter will love it! Next, show her how to make one! Get her interested in woodworking by doing!............Jim

Hi Don, Nice first box. Nice use of a 2×4, love using them to practice new ideas and also to make shop caddies and holders.

Nice job with your first box. Exactly how I started, back in 2009 when I bought my band saw. Been making band saw boxes ever since. They are addictive! :-) And fun.

Please make some more and show us. Maybe ask your daughter to draw the pattern for one. You never know what kids will come up with!
