Primitive Chalkboard made from Upcycled raised door panel

This primitive chalkboard, key garage, coat rack is made from an antique door panel. The robin’s egg blue paint that you see is original paint. I just uncovered it with the belt sander then put on 3+ coats of tung oil. This door panel came from .. the… dumpster. I have made a sister to this one, only the board sits vertically instead of horizontally. One day I will take a picture. :) Maybe.

Great recycling idea. I like the way the tung oil finish came out.

A very useful COOL project!

Those hanger hooks look like what Rockler had (maybe still do) ON SALE for 99 cents each!!
I got a few of them… can’t pass up a good deal like that!

Just PERFECT for near an entry… or wherever…

Thank you for posting your stuff… Nice to see you back!

Kelly, this is sooo wonderful. When are you gonna put some pictures of you shop up? I want to see how it’s coming along. Did you ever get some heat in there? Gives us an update on your shop. You keep on going gal. You one creative woman. Yes you are; you’re a regular character, yes you are. :)

Aw you know I will feed you. But I really am saving all the sawdust. I am tired of paying walmart for log starters. I am making my own.. hopefully this weekend. Just need a little paraffin wax and I am ready!

rivergirl,

Does that black-chalk paint work GOOD… Can mark on it without a miss?

What kind do you use?

I trust you LIKE it… (?)

Thank you…

Yes- the paint works really well. Need to sand the wood smooth- then I paint with flat black paint- then tape off and use krylon blackboard paint spray. I also like the blackboard paint in the paint can- by Rustoleum. Both work well.
