Kitchen Kitchen No-picture-s Click the pictures to enlarge them

My wonderful wife has been PATIENTLY waiting on me to complete her kitchen. We finally got most of the cabinets built, then we saved up and got the Corian countertop, Corian sink and range top installed. Here are a few pics of the progress so far. Still got a couple cabinets to build and new floor and trim to do, but were getting there.

The cabinets look great!

I’m curious about one thing, though. The sink and the cooktop are obviously reversed from their usual placement in a kitchen. Any special reason?

Sonny, We used white oak for the doors and frames. Got a deal at a local lumber yard.

Hey CharlieM1958,

Yes, the sink and range top were switched. Wife wanted it that way and if mama aint happy, nobodys happy. Also made it easier for the plate rack above the sink and dishwasher next to sink. Helped with the cold temps to move the pipes from the outside wall to an inside wall also. Old house aint insulated like it should be. Gee, another project to work on…...it never ends…..

This is a very nice kitchen upgrade. I like pegs in the joints. That adds a nice touch to the cabinets. I noticed you have some boxes open and one, I assume, with an oak plate. Are you going to do all the boxes with wood plates?

Great looking kitchen. I am sure your wife thinks it is worth the wait now. My wife sometimes (not often) complains about how long it takes me to get stuff done. Then, when it is done, she admits that it is well worth the wait.

As I said, the kitchen looks awesome. You should be proud.

Keep up the great work.

Now that is a nice job. I think it deserves a new tool or two, don’t you think so?.

Love that plate rack, and the pegged joints. That’s a nice warm-looking finish on the cabinets, too. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks guys, the faceframes and doors are white oak with walnut plugs. I sprayed Crystalac for a finish. Wow…was that a learning curve. The carcasses are built from baltic birch cabinet plywood(excpet for the cabinet around the dishwasher). 3/4 inch on all sides so they should be strong. It really helped to justify a few tools with what we saved making them ourselves. Plus the experience and working with the best friend in the world. Cindy’s a good one…33 years and don’t regret a minute…...
