Deerfield Box in Honduran Rosewood with Makore top and Mahogany Slips

Project by Tom Adamski posted 639 days ago 474 views 1 time favorited 11 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Hello, my name is Tom Adamski and in addition to furniture design and construction, I enjoy making keepsake boxes. All are one of a kind, usually consisting of exotics that I work with. My convention is to use woods in harmony that interact well with each other as opposed to being overly ornimental.

All of my boxes are named for cities as I sell them under the name City Boxes. This one is titled Deerfield for Deerfield, Illinois. It is made from Honduran Rosewood with a inlaid Makore top. It also has Mahogany slipfeathers securing the mitered corners and a traditional Ebony, Purple Heart and Holly inlay in the top. The top is a fitted lift off style that mates solidly with the body. A rich piece of fitted leather completes the bottom of the box.

Size: 8” wide X 4 1/4” deep X 3 3/4” High

Great looking box. I like the choice of wood and the inlay.

Beautiiful box, Tom!

I think I’ll start naming my boxes after cities in Louisiana. I wonder how much $$$ I can get for the “Dry Prong” and “Bunkie” models?

if I was a Gorilla and made a comment….....I could get shot at

If I were a jaguar I would think about moving

If I were a spotted owl I personally would thank those who care and feel blessed enough to save my feathers from wiping somebodies @$$.

I am curious about a perspective that addresses concerns that we are no further off then the earth being flat?

Nice box!!!

Where did you buy the wood?

I like the naming convention and the leather bottoms. Nice touch. You have knack for blending woods for an overall theme and flavor. Do you make your own inlays?

I think we all could have some fun with naming after our local municipalities. I still am partial to Intercourse, PA, but I think our friends across the pond in the UK would beat us all. Although, Charlie, my aunt and uncle are down Metarie and I have run into some really weird ones there!
