November, 2011—Both boxes are made with mitered corners, reinforced with splines. The bottoms are floating snugly inside a groove in the sides. I feel like I’m getting more accomplished with this style of box, especially with being careful to cut the sides such that the grain pattern follows “around the corner.”
The first box has a lid that lays inside a lip. The second box is hinged. Both boxes are finishes with three coats of Rust-Oleum satin water-base polyurethane, brushed on.

Well, you certainly have mastered the ‘grain-runs-around-the-box’ technique. I think it looks superb.
