A few of my wood turnings. I am just an amateur at wood turing. I got a lathe last christmas and have made many bowls. These are made from fir, silver maple, ash, purple heart, zebra wood, polar, walnut, paduak, cedar and yellow heart. I have a 4-jaw-chuck that I use for my bowls which never sits on the self.

These are some seriously nice projects Ryan.
You have a great future in woodworking.
Just keep having fun and give it a rest if it ever becomes “work”.

Welcome to Lumberjocks.

Nice work. Not sure that turning will ever become work for me, but it has become an addiction….not sure if that is good or bad. Enjoy your lathe!!!!

Thanks. As you may have noticed, I have an issue with end-grain-tearout one of my bowls (the large one on the left), and other bowls which are not in the photo. Does anyone know a solution to this? Either a different technique of a solution when it happens.

Thanks.

Dull tools will cause tear-outs as well as taking too deep a cut. Sharpen often rather than seldom! Your works look good!
