First finished project!

This was just a quick practice project. I wanted to practice free hand routing, and I decided to make a sign for my daughter’s bedroom door. every time we walk by her room, she runs in, grabs some toys and says “let’s play”. I figured this would be easy enough to do, and it turned out better than I hoped, so I decided to post it!
Hopefully I will have more projects to post moving forward, but this was just a really easy one to get me started.
It is just a simple piece of pine that I ran through a surface planer, then routed the letters into. I just put a little stain on it to darken the wood and bring the grain out some. no finish on it to speak of, since I was not sure if the finish would ruin the acrylic paint in the letters.

on a side note, I couldn’t find the cord for my digi-camera, so I took a video and posted it to youtube. it’s a very short, fairly pointless video, but if for some reason you are interested, here is the link –

Thanks for the kind comments everyone! I am really excited to finally be able to get building some things, and hope to make some stuff to sell very soon! This is the beginning to what I hope to be able to build into a nice business. I can’t think of a better way to spend my time and generate some income for my family!

@a1Jim after getting a peak at your router wall, I will take that as a very nice compliment!

@rivergirl thank you! I have a long way to go, but it feels great to be getting some things done!
