The old bird condo was in need of repair so I built a new one. The birds barely waited for me to get off the ladder before they were checking it out. It appears to be to their liking.

real nice build! is that cypress?cedar?other?

I always wondered how long it takes for a house like this to become occupied. I guess not long at all :)

It is made of cedar. It sat in my garage for about a month after I water sealed it, so that may have helped get the birds to it quicker.

I’ve actually been looking for a good bird house design and I think I stumbled upon it with your project. Looks great! Thanks for sharing.

That is one nice bird house. Is it a purple martin house?

This is for the birds, a house of dreams for sure. Love the details under the eaves and that great roof. We always had one these in the backyard when growing up, lots of martins eating tons of mosquito’s. My dad used to put a sliver soldered antenna made out of a coat hanger on the roof and later replaced it with a satellite dish. Still got the antenna and now I’ve got a great model to put it on. Thanks so much for the post

I like the purple martin style house, but its residents are sparrows. I wish they ate mosquitos. That is a great antenna!!!

Sparrows? That’s great, my favourite bird! Such unassuming, busy little creatures, always arguing in the bushes, happy for handouts.
