I know. It’s getting pretty late in the year for ice cream, but I had a 5” piece of turning stock left that’s not long enough for a lathe tool handle. So I turned it from 2” square to this Michelin Man design in just a couple of minutes. BTW, the carbide tipped lathe tools are really the thing. They empower me ! ;=)

Then a quick 3/8” forstner bore, one wipe of stain with Minwax Special Walnut, three coats of Minwax Wipe Polyurethane, epoxy in the hole and set the scoop and I’m done. Elapsed time about 1 1/2 hours. It was fun.

BTW, I got the stainless scoop and ferrule awhile back from Rockler on sale for 5.99. That’s less than the price of the Cuisinart it will replace.

I made a pizza cover by hand as I do not have a lathe, and I still have this ice cream scoop to make. Great work.

Thats really nice , David . I see your newly found interest in turning is coming along nicely . I always use pewter for ice cream scooping , but the SS provides that ‘bling’ . I do, however, disagree about it being late in the year
for ice cream . The grand kids know….......”the ice cream song ” ...surely .!!

They don’t know the song, but the oldest (2 1/2) sure knows where the frozen stuff is kept !

1st let me say, it’s never a bad day for ice cream… that is an awesome scoop for that gr8 stuff. you got that at a good price.
