Commissioned table, my very first table as well. I was nervous about making a table but it turned out to go smoothly.
I bought a whole slabbed oak tree for it, 100% solid french oak. Legs had te be removable so no MnT jonts, but screws.
Finished with 3 coats of water based 2 component mat polyurethane.

Love the way the top appears to float! is the top one solid piece with all four edges rebated?

j_c, the client wanted that little style element after seeing it somewhere else, the top is a solid piece made with glued up boards with a rebate routed all around. The top is not supposed to stick out, but i intentionally made it a few mm wider to cope with eventual shrinking.

Thanks for the info Greedo – I really like it. Slightly different execution to most ‘floating’ tops you see.

Nice one! I really like the modern, no-nonsense design.
The rebate gives it a certain elegance.

Very nice! I like floating tops; someday I hope to find a top that actually floats!
