I made this based on a design in Popular woodworking magazine. It is a gift to my wife for our first wedding anniversary. Its made of 3/4 plywood and pine. I modified the original design by adding side rail on the bottom to support the legs as it didn’t seem drilling into the edge of the plywood would support any weight or stress. The legs are held on with some 3 1/2” bolts with some brass washers I found and wing nuts. I also placed some metal pegs in the legs to prevent it from tipping. The altered design doesn’t seem to allow for enough tension. I also placed a similar sized washer as the brass one in between the leg and body with some holes stamped with a center punch in opposite directions to give it a little more grab. I had planned to make some knobs but ran out of time before the big day. The cats are for a joke between my wife and I. When we were dating I use to call her a stray cat. Now I tell her that she a stray that found a home.

Cool project and congrats to you on your 1st Anniversary and many more to come. March will be 19 yrs for Blondie and I. Boy it goes fast. Seems you have humor in your relationship with the Stray Cat Joke, which is a key to making it work. Laughing is a good thing! Look fwd to more posts.

That is a great idea! My wife’s grandmother wanted a podium that sits on top of a table for her church meetings. I might use something like this!! Thanks for the idea. What issue of Popular woodworking did you get it from?
