Modeled after the David Marks drum table from Wood Works! He modeled his after drums that slaves played. drums were outlawed so they made these drum tables out of old crates.

I made this one for my daughter. Its made out of claro walnut, ambrosia maple and maple plywood. the sunburst on the bottom vent hole was routed and colored with water soluble dyes!

My son (a djembe player) has been after me for years to make him one of these. Thanks for the reminder. Yours looks great. Ambrosia Maple is one of my favorite woods.

Nice dovetails and grain interplay. How loud is it, and what type of drumstick do you use?

Thank you all for your comments.

exelectrician – the drum isnt very loud, but it does have a nice tone to it. no drumsticks, just hands. from the center to the edge it does change the tone quite a bit.
