This was my summer project in preparation for my daughter moving up to a ‘big girl bed’.
It is 100% solid oak with the exception of the drawer bottoms – they are plywood.
I have always been a fan of ball bearing drawer glides and they work great here.
A removable headboard is in my design. It will use steel dowels and set screws.
The wood has saw marks left for a rustic look, but I am not sure how well that matches Princesses.
A side note here: I nicked my thumb on the table saw while working on this piece. Remember the push stick!

Very nice use of otherwise wasted space. I’m sure they will be filled with clothes or toys in no time. In another 3-4 years you will be redoing this to add an additional level to the bottom so she can have 6 drawers to fill instead of just 3.
