This is my 2nd attempt at a project. There is nothing square about this piece and it was tough to get the legs plumbed and level with the top. As a newcomer to woodworking, I am constantly learning (making mistakes) and I just try the best I can.
This top measures 27’’ x 14’’ and it stands 13’’ high. This was my first attempt at a mortise joint and I did those with chisels. I used sanded slivers of walnut for the pegs in the leg tops and they are not uniform at all, but they did “snug” up the piece very well. The idea was to make a rustic piece and I think I succeeded in that.
This is being donated to the local fire dept for their fundraiser/auction this coming Saturday.
Thanks for looking and for your cmments
PS…Be fore-warned, I have more walnut slabs! LOL
