This table was originally made back in 1979 from sraps of teak and afrormosia purchased from a boat yard in North Carolina. Back then I did not know that if you glued the chess board squares down that they would crack. So in 2009 I decided to redo the checkerboard top and refinish the table and added the benches made out of bubinga and iroko and added the double slide drawer to the top. The checker board is made out of walmut and maple veneer. As of this posting it is still waiting for the chess pieces but the checkers work well.
