A pen I made for one of the door prizes at the community luncheon at my wife’s school. Their mascot is the eagle and their name is Lve Oak so the wood is live oak with an eagle decal on it. It has about 10 coats of CA glue on it. The wood is kind of plain but it’s not a bad looking pen.

That looks great! What was your procedure for putting on the decal?

I don’t know what blmac4 used, but here is an interesting video on Decals for Woodworkers.

I used the Testors decal paper from Hobby Lobby and printed the design on my inkjet printer. Since it’s a water slide decal the ink needs to be set so it doesn’t run. You can spray it with a clear acrylic but Hobby Lobby also sells a product from Testors that sets the ink. Then you just cut the decal to size and soak it in water and apply it to whatever you are making. If you made models as a kid and put decals on them, it’s the same process.
