This is a hair stick, usually balanced in a woman’s coif, i.e. pony tail, bun, etc. My wood supplier was closing his business so he gave me his scrap wood. This piece of wood came from the rockers of an old rocking chair. Unfortunately I forgot the name of the wood species but will tell you it was hard and brittle – a carver’s curse!! Ipe comes to mind.
I power carved it in less than a day and finished it with wipe-on poly.

That is really cool!. I have added this to my project list. Can I order a dozen for next Valentines day! If I give my wife a dozen carved wooden roses she may allow me to bring more wood home.

Woodbridge, you will never fail with a dozen roses!
Pete, the wood continues to talk to me and I enjoy the conversation! Nice hearing from you. RH

I was just looking at your projects. You have very good ideas and you’re a very good carver. Way to raise the bar and inspire me to carve better.

Nice carving. Congratulations.
