I was recently gifted a pickup load of Western Maple. Included were several nice burl pieces. The donor is a fly fisherman. so I built him this net as a ‘Thank You’ gift.
The handle is WM burl with delecate color and stunning graining. The hoop was made of glued up strips of Eastern Maple and Claro Walnut. I glued using Tite-bond III. The net was from a seller on the internet.
The net is considered to be a 10” x 14” size. I have the magnetic release/lanyard assembly, but have not yet installed.
I believe I have about 20 hours involved in making this, including the labor to make the jig. However, I made a few mistakes and was forced to re-do several items. I believe I could make another in less than 5 hours.

Fantastic net. Love the burl and the combination of colors goes great together.

Keep it up.
