This was the project that got me into woodworking as an adult. I grew up doing things with both grandparents and my dad but college and grad school took up most of my time for several years. My wife and I ran across some PO Box doors at Canton one weekend and got them for a great price, thinking we’d do something with them, even though we didn’t know what.

My wife had the idea to frame the doors and fill the frames with memorabilia from our time at each place we lived in our married life so that’s what I did. The miter box and saw were the first (of many) woodworking tools that I bought as an adult and this was a good first project. The wood is just off the shelf trim put together with woodglue and painted with rattle can black. All have held up good for 6+ years.

I have one of these setting on a shelf in my shop. Everybody does piggy banks with them. Great twist on the use of them.
