Making these bottle stoppers has become my favorite thing to do on the Lathe. I got my lathe a couple weeks ago and just received ten stopper kits and blanks and have been making a stopper each day either before or after work. Coming up with the shape of the stopper seems to be the hardest part so far, but I think each one does a good job of showing the grain well and flowing with the stopper base. I am going to try my hand at selling these and try and make up some of the cost of the lathe and tools but the First one is going on a bottle of my own.

Thanks for viewing my stoppers and let me know what you think. I need to come up with a better display to sell them but for now, the amazing hunk of cherry burl makes for a neat backdrop.

You siad: Coming up with the shape of the stopper seems to be the hardest part so far, but I think each one does a good job of showing the grain well and flowing with the stopper base.

All wood tells it’s own story. Great job!

Have you used Bubinga, Mablewood and Bloodwood in a few of these? Can’t think of the 4th wood… :-(

Nice stoppers Jeffery. Next time you’re over I’ll give you some stopper stock. I have boxes of it….....
