Scrap- Pen Tilt

Well here is my entry in the “Scrap it Out” contest.
I used a small cut off of Padauk that I had, and decided to try iron on lettering. Printed out the words as you see in pic 3 and then used an iron to transfer them to the wood. This idea served as a test for some other projects I am working on for the upcoming craft fair. The concept worked well but took some fiddling with on the proper angle. I am somewhere around 37 degrees.

The quote is from Marty Feldmen and was selected at random after searching for quotes about pens.
“The pen is mightier then the sword, and considerably easier to write with.”

Very nice. Interesting shape. How is it for writing.

Nice job. Was the wood very porous and therefor not smooth enough to get a good transfer.

Just asking.

Karson, It was a bit but the other issue to be honest is that I really did not sand it very well before transferring then of course I couldn’t after I did. Since it was a scrap item and a test case, I just kind of chalked it up as a “Doh!” I am happy to say I have been trying harder to get better smooth finishes in the past few months.

Thanks for the info, David posted a blog early on in LumberJock days on making decals for items. Here is his blog on it.

Cool idea!!!!!!!....It is easier to write with, too!!
That is a neat idea with the iron on lettering. I’ll have to favorite that one for later!....Jim
