When I built the last mallet I had intended to built it round, but my lathe broke. Yesterday I got the part and the lathe is back running, so I figured I’d finish it. Its a chunk of cherry firewood. I believe the handle is an old broom handle.

Nothing like homemade tools.
I just read that in the old days they used to use burl or root for the mallets, that is interesting.
