I built this couch a few years ago, from plans of Wood Magazine. The wood is quarter saw withe oak. It was a fun project. The upholstery is not real leather, but the “cow skin” is real, from my last trip to Argentina. The table has a built in light, and is a reproduction of a table that I saw in a Cape May antique store. I did some modifications to match the couch. The top is made of stained glass to match the light cover. Some day I may do a couple of chairs to go with it.

Very nice work! I like that the stained glass tabletop matches the lampshade, very cool!

Zipsss,

I am a fan of mission style furniture projects and this one is excellent. The stained glass top and built in lamp in the end table is a nice touch to the furniture group.

Really nice looking sofa and table. I like the style – the cow hide is o.k., but not my personal favorite. The rooms looks comfortable and the sofa and table really pull it together.

Beautiful work. The cow hide really is a nice touch and adds alot to the effect of the piece.

How expensive was the hide ?

The “cow” I bought in Argentina for about $35.00 from a wholesaler that manufacture shoes and purses.
I did a few pieces of stained glass in the past. I enjoy it, but not as much as building furniture. I did build 3 windows for my local synagogue, the are about 2’ by 5’ long. I will try to get new pictures to post, since they were built before digital cameras where popular.
