This was a project I completed a few months ago. The family needed space to have a small microwave and to store spice containers. Since the best place to have this type of multi use shelf was in the upper cabinet elevation, I needed to come up with a design which maximized storaged and allowed easy accessibility. So, I came up with the drop down drawers above the microwave. This allowed for storing 4 rows of spice containers, all easily accesible and it kept the microwave low enough to be useable. I used a pocket hole jig I had just purchased and it worked out really well. I used full extension glides with an additional maple rail in order to provide the rear pivot the drawers needed to allow for the drop feature. The whole cabinet is solid Maple.

That’s a GOOD / COOL idea!

You’ve got me thinking now… where can I do that… ?? LOL

I guess there is not an air circulation requirement for built-in Microwaves?

Looks super nice & Functional! Good use of space!

What looks like two drawers above the microwave are really
Pull Out & Drop Down 2 shelf spice racks.

To close, you Swing-up and Push-In.

You have two of them… a lot of storage of spices in a very small space.

Very clever…

Hope that helps… (I hope I understand it to be what I said. LOL )
