MAYDAY TREE - A Curmudgeon's Boot

I had this piece of Mayday wood from a tree I had chopped down in my yard a couple of years ago. Thought I might try and make a boot but found out that it wasn’t fully cured, hence the split at the heel. To add to my misery, I had cut the blank a bit small and the composition took on a world of it’s own. I wasn’t going to quit or throw away the wood so I kept on carving. The result was a wrinkled old boot, twisted from old age making up it’s character. I found some of my airbrush paints that I had collected for my fish carvings and slapped the paint on with reckless abandon.
That’s my boot!!!!

Enjoy!

Way to improvise Roman. It’s amazing how an initial idea can transform as we all make little mistakes along the way. The journey is more interesting and rewarding that way! Beautiful piece.
