Just another Router Table
After buying a new Triton 2 ¼ hp router a couple of weeks back, I decided that it was time for me to have a router table. I have not done too much routing in the past. The only router I have owned is an old Craftsman my Dad had hanging around for years. (Estimate maybe 40 years). The more I have learnt about routers the more I am fascinated by them. Their versatility in the workshop has gained a lot of my respect.
Inspired by some of the router tables posted here and elsewhere on the net, I went ahead and built one. I started with a table top, fence and base plate I found on sale at one of the local tool stores. Not the best table top on the market, but the price was such, I just couldn’t say no. And although I am not totally satisfied with the end results of the table, I believe it will serve me just fine for the time being. Table and base are constructed of MDF. I added some bit storage drawers and cupboards. I bought a frued switch that has two plug-in spots so I can switch both router and vacuum on at the same time.
The Triton is just great. No need for a lift with this one. Above table bit change and adjustment are made so easy. If you look hard you can see a little sliding dove tail joint height gage I made as my fist project on this table. I used an Ikea tape measure for a scale. Not sure if I will ever use it, but the idea was good.

Should do the job! I’ve sure like my table. Beats the heck out of routing by hand.

Looks a lot better than the first router table I made. Good job!

Hey, this one is much better than either of my two router tablesl. This is a nice table and it looks like you have plenty of room on which to work. The sliding drawers are a nice feature.
Thanks for the post.

Nice table, I wish I had room for a dedicated router table, mine’s in my TS extension.
My shop is suffering from a serious case of tool overload and I’m expecting a drum sander next week.
Before it is suggested, no, I’ll just keep on suffering. ;~)

Now you’re really making me want to get started on a new table to show of my Tritin like that one does yours!

Great table Toyguy. That spanner is in a handy place for a quick change over.

Looks good, toyguy.
I just have one safety concern: it seems that you should move your switch closer to the front. You want that “stop paddle” to be within easy reach. You also don’t want to have to reach down and put your face in line with the spinning router bit in order to shut it off.
Other than that, looks like a solid table. Nicely done.

Thanks for your concern…...I was already looking at moving it a bit. I can reach it just fine but maybe a bit more forward would be a good idea.
