Walnut with curly maple inlay, dovetail corner posts also of maple. Quadrant hinges are the ones that I posted some months ago from A & H Turf Specialties. The top has mitered corners with a rabbit for a piece of Baltic plywood to which the inlay is glued from the top and the mirror from the bottom.

Very nice rlrjr – you look like you have spent quite a bit of time on this piece which is seen from the outside and inside detailing.

Only thing I would change would be the little brass knob.

Cheers

Ian

Nice Piece! The Walnut and Maple contrast beautifully together. Great looking dovetails too.

Ian,

I’m curious as to what kind of knob you would like to see. I’m always open to other opinions and suggestions.

I would either not have a knob and the lid could be easily opened with your hands at either side or a small routed groove at the front.

The box looks great with clean workmanship and IMHO does not need the knob.

Ian,

My love of brass sometimes gets in the way…the next time I build this design it will have a routed groove in the front.
