I received an order from someone that wanted a set of chairs and table to give to his parents for Christmas. I went to my local saw mill about 4 years ago and bought a whole stack of odds and ends wood for $100. It ended up being a truck load. I planed the wood down to make this furniture and noticed that some of the oak was much darker than usual. I am assuming it is black oak because it smelled like oak but it was a little harder on my planer knives. I decided to incorperate the black oak along with red oak to give a unique effect. I used hickory branches for the framework. The customer was totally pleased with the outcome.
