Birdseye Maple box

This is a simple box. It is approx 6” x 8”. I used Birdseye Maple and walnut for the sides and base. I used a homemade box joint jig for the joints. I am a little absent minded sometimes when it comes to my keys, wallet, etc, so I use it to put my “stuff” away when I get home. I wasn’t going to post it because I didn’t think it was fancy or very inspirational. However, when I put the Shellac finish on it, I the Birdseye Maple just popped and was so stunning that I just wanted to share it. Thanks for looking.

Nice work. I’m currently working on a box made from curly maple….been trying to decide what finish to use…..might just try some shellac!

I used 3 coats of good old Zinsser clear shellac straight from the rattle can.
