I built this lamp to replace the log lamp (see previous project). My wife never liked the previous lamp, so I thought I’d build her a new one for her birthday.
I call this “arts and crafts” and/or “mission style” although I’m using a non-traditional wood for the lamp: jatoba finished with boiled linseed oil. The lamp base is beveled as well as the top. There is a copper tubing which extends the light a couple of inches higher than the top (the copper is left over from some plumbing work around the house). The “grill” (not sure what else to call it) can be seen better in the third picture. It was purchased from Home Depot in a 2’x4’ section, which I cut to size and nailed to some cherry plywood. For the electrical, I bought a cheap lamp from Walmart, destroyed the plastic exterior, then used the lighting pieces for this one. The lamp shade is from target. Thanks for looking. And Yes, my wife likes this one a lot better than the previous one.
