Finally finished the box. Going to deliver it tomorrow. Cutting those little strips was time consuming. Then working to get the weaving equal took forever. Just when I thought it was ok, another look put me back to work. I started to frame the top. Finally, I used a solid top and routed out the center.. Screen is in the bottom to allow air to come thru. All boxelder

The work was worth it. You ended up with a great looking box.
Did you moisten the strips to weave them, or were they flexible enough?

Looks better in person.
No, I didn’t wet the strips. They were solid, not veneer but, very thin. I should have made it shorter, like the one in the magazine. First time to do that weaving stuff. Think I might like to try that again on a different project.

Nice job on a pretty cool project Gary. I can imagine the strips bring on a whole new set of challenges. Looks like you got the hang of it!

Rick, the strips were new to me but, I liked doing them I will use that again someday.
Ken, thanks. I delivered it about 30 minutes ago. It went to a school district and will be auctioned off this Sat.

Late to the party on this one Gary, but had to chime in this box. Really like the weave top… Like that box elder too….
