The last of the 6 boxes I made for the show. The first is some spalted Myrtlewood from Brookings, Or. I was doing a show there and a guy asked me to look at some wood he had kept in his garage for 20 years. The top is some Spalted Maple from Greg at Oregon Burls. 6’ x 5’ x 6’. The second is some Spalted Beech from Allen at Milwaukee Woodworks. The top is some Walnut from a tree service guy in South Sacramento. About 7’ x 5’ x 5’. the last is more Santa Cruz Redwood Burl with a top of Curly Redwood from Anderson’s Alternatives in Mendocino. Nathan salvages wood from the rivers and make ‘big’ tables with it. It really comes alive with oil. About 10’ square by 6’. These are easy to make in batches. I like how the different woods go together. A little Watco oil and I was done. 6 boxes and 8 ‘S’ cutting boards in a week, after my day job of riding herd on 31 second graders. I will have to catch up on sleep this next week. Right after I finish the 3 special orders I agreed to recently and after I clean my shop. Thanks to all of you who are offering wood for sale. It keeps me happy.
