So, we made it onto national television! Artisans’ feature aired September 9th on Animal Planet. Our “Sea Chest Bed” according to Acrylic Tank Manufacturing’s CEO Wayde R. King “was a vital part to the success of our up and coming reality show “Tanked,” he added that “the scene was exactly what we wanted.”
We’re happy to have gained some new friends and experiences, we appreciate the opportunity for exposure, and we look forward to our next covert projects that may just result in some additional national exposure!

We can finally reveal the covert project in it’s full form! – This is a solid cherry “Sea Chest Bed” designed to provide a platform for a critically ill child to relax while undergoing various procedures and recovery periods where motion is just not an option. The piece is positioned under a fish tank designed with a portal allowing him to review strait into the bottom of the tank!
The piece is tongue and grove and interlocking solid cherry. Four drawers allowing storage with panels hidden inside that allow it to convert to a coffee table. The bed section is custom made by Brown’s Upholstery – a fitted mattress with aquatic theme fabric. A bunk style ladder allows easy access to the piece and the whole thing sits on wheels to allow easy movement.
For lots more details about the project check out our last newsletter – you’ll find features about “ATM” – Acrylic Tank Manufacturing out in Vegas, Nancy Glass Productions, and a host of characters and companies involved in the project.

Hand forged Iron Hardware for this project was generously donated by Horton Brasses – and the finish provided by Waterlox.
Keep a watch – you never know what’s coming next! “Tanked” is looking good for signing season two … and Artisans has a few other tricks up our sleeves for getting some additional shots at national exposure!

I saw that episode and love the show. Hopefully you guys will get to collaborate more in the future. I love the product of many masters coming together to create a masterpiece. And the reaction from the family had to have made it all worth it no matter what.

The hole in the bottom to see through is my favorite part. The whole concept is so whimsical and cool looking. Kudos on a real once in a lifetime type result!

Our “3 seconds” of fame on national TV … its funny we spent the whole day on set, got the banter back and forth on camera, etc … but of course I just went unloved and most of it was trimmed out. It’s Ok – we had fun making the piece, delivering it … AND made some great new friends.
We’ll see – “Tanked” season two could be around the corner and we have some ideas pending if that happens!
Or of course – we could just get our OWN reality show … never know … we have gotten a lot of great press out of the project. Wayde and Brett really do put their hearts into their work, they are a fun dysfunctional family to work with!
Thanks for the feedback!
Eric
