My first showing in a gallery… I have had Morris chairs in a local gallery for the past few months. One afternoon the owner asked if I was interested in being their “featured artist”. That’s not really my thing, and I didn’t really have the time, but thought it was a compliment for her to ask and thought it would be fun. The only stipulation was that she couldn’t sell any of the piece’s I brought in (borrowed back from clients/family & friends), and since I really don’t have time for any new projects in the next 8 months, that she price high enough that it would be unlikely that anyone would place an order.
It was a good plan, to my surprise, I still ended up with orders for several pieces, the plant stands in the pix, and a small votive candle holder. So I guess that’s good, and a little scary, but it was all FUN!

That is so cool! Nice looking product line. How does that work, selling through a gallery?

Nice!
Now you’ve got to get some pieces for her to sell on the spot. I bet if she had salable inventory you’d get more sales. =)

Congratulations on the show and the increase in business.
I had a friend of mine, a professional woodworker, who told me that his personal philosophy was never to turn business down. But when faced with a project that he really didn’t want to do he always priced it 3x higher than he normally would. Most of the time the client would simply decline but occasionally, when his bid was accepted, he was compensated for taking on the project.
Sounds like you need to put in a production line.

Congratulations! Looking at your work I can see why you were asked to be featured. The fact that your items sold at an “inflated” price means your work is highly valued and maybe underpriced normally.
Gotta be a great feeling!

That’s great Schroeder, I’ve found that sometimes if you raise your price really high that you end up getting more business. People tend to think that if you charge to little that it must not be worth much. SO the higher the price the more it’s worth. Your line of furniture looks terrific.

The projects looked great I was honored to share the show with you. Off to Newport today for a show just got a trailer 14 foot to haul things in. Given the weather it will sure come in handy. We completed two new projects and I post them soon.
