this layered piece was for the same client as the Gaiola doors. It depicts the Terceiria style bullfight on rope. The Background is some really clear pine and I layered up with various pieces of veneer the I though would depict the sea and hills. The stone wall was CNC carves out of 3 thin maple pieces then pieced together. The foreground figures had to be cut out of 1/8th Baltic birch because it is the only thing that wouldn’t fly apart cutting out so many small details. I was cut out of several pieces and masked with the large cover strip. The frame is simple rounded over red oak. I made the hat rack to match with pine and and a red oak trim and shaker pegs. These hats are the type of hats worn by the men who man the rope in the picture depicted above.
