I made a walnut bowl. The wood comes from a tree cut by this spring. Piece had some cracks but I thought that this was superficial. They left after turning … I was pretty disappointed when I saw how deep are the cracks and I not struggled to make a good finish on the inside. I dry in the microwave and found that the bowl was a bit distorted.

What a happy accident with the microwave, roundness is so overrated! I would not have guessed that this was walnut, it has great markings and colour. A good find and a fine turning. Looks like a strange face in pic. 2.

No I can not figure out why my walnut pieces I have in stock remain white. I expect to be brown wood color.
Is walnut certainly, but probably other species of walnut in these parts. Or maybe it will change color after drying.
Anyway, thanks for appreciation.
