Though I’ve still the upholstery and cushion frame to install, the settle is mostly finished. Quartersawn white oak with cocobolo finals and ebony inlay. Both exotic species, to tell the truth, were added to disguise “issues”, but don’t tell anyone. I’m glad the mistakes occurred because truthfully, I love the post tops. Finished (thus far) with oil, with wax to come. I’ll add another photo she the upholstery is done. I’m doing it myself – to buy a machine or to do it by hand (and thus risk injury); that is the question…

Update; finished the upholstery – still have one coat of wax to apply and buff.

Nice job on this settle. It will be a nice place for the family to curl up on. I would have capped the quadrilinear legs with the same method. Look forward to seeing the completed seat. Thanks for the post.

Great looking settle. I really like the shape of the spindles, and the color is so rich and inviting in your second picture. Just makes me want to plop down and take a load off, but I think I’ll wait for the cushions. Your decision to add the cocobolo and ebony is a nice touch. Good Job!

I’m making a settle now. How did you support your cushion?
