Project Information

This is the first box I've built. It started out as a cedar tree I cut down. I don't have a saw mil so I got it down to a manageable size with a chain saw and then used my chop saw to get the planks as close to the same thickness as possible. I have a planer now but didn't when I made this so the corners were especially hard to line up. It looks ok but smells great.

Reed, this is certainly a nice looking box and I am sure you wife enjoyed getting it as a gift. Building the box from wood that you milled yourself adds to the special quality of this box.

Welcome to LJs. You should be proud. From tree to box made with tools at hand.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice box!
I'm sure it smells as good as it looks.

I milled some cedar, and have been waiting for it to dry out.

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback. I don't know anyone to 'talk shop' with around here so this is a great venue for me. Thanks everyone for looking and commenting.
