This is the first box I’ve built. It started out as a cedar tree I cut down. I don’t have a saw mil so I got it down to a manageable size with a chain saw and then used my chop saw to get the planks as close to the same thickness as possible. I have a planer now but didn’t when I made this so the corners were especially hard to line up. It looks ok but smells great.

Reed, this is certainly a nice looking box and I am sure you wife enjoyed getting it as a gift. Building the box from wood that you milled yourself adds to the special quality of this box.

Nice box!
I’m sure it smells as good as it looks.

I milled some cedar, and have been waiting for it to dry out.

I really appreciate all of the positive feedback. I don’t know anyone to ‘talk shop’ with around here so this is a great venue for me. Thanks everyone for looking and commenting.

That’s a wonderful box and I’m sure that she loved it. The wood is beautiful.
