This is a TV stand & cabinet that I built as a Christmas/Birthday present for my dad, to house his 73” TV (excessive? yes.) A few considerations: 1) I made it from Pine to keep it as light as possible so it was easier to move 2) I used plywood intentionally for its strength and lack of expansion/contraction 3) Most of the cabinet was made from salvaged pine of many types from many sources 4) The side panels and front wainscot panels are floating in 1/4” rabbets 5) All hardwood dowel joinery 6) The dark brown finish was accomplished through part dye (transtint) and part stain followed by 2 coats of polyurethane and did a nice job of making the disparate types of wood look more uniform and matching 7) The top cabinets have no front or back to allow remote control of a DVR, Amp, etc… 8) Brass knobs, hinges, and screws.
This should put his TV right at eye level and house all of his electronics for years to come. Hope you like it dad!

Dont blame you for you choice of wood. Made of solid hardwood, that thing would require an elephant to move it. Nice work. Your dad should be proud of such a gift. You’re a good son!

Very nice! Your dad will treasure this. I really like the finish and the way you added a LOT of class to plywood and reclaimed pine. My kind of project.
