I originally made this back scratcher about three years ago. My wife and I have one that we’d swap back and forth as needed, and I could have bought another one but where’s the fun in that. At first it was just the square part measuring about 16 inches. I made it out of scrap wood, but after using the finished piece, I decided it wasn’t long enough for me, and the turned part was a piece I turned three or forth years ago playing around on my lathe with another scrap piece of wood (I don’t throw anything away). I wanted to add a handle to it, but I wasn’t sure exactly how I wanted to accomplish this, and one of my dogs thought it might be tasty, so she decided to chow on the small end, and therefore messed up that end of it. So I made a round tenon on that end of it to fit a hole I drilled in the turned piece, glued them together making the overall length 32 inches long. Some might say its a little bit to long now, but I like it.
